When it comes my hip hop music, I love playing with hidden meanings. My best rap lyrics are chalk full of secret messages and punchlines. The Proposition 8 quote is a perfect example of how I use hip hop culture to address social concerns while still having fun and getting high with my audience. As you might already know, the female marijuana plant is responsible for the sticky buds that rap artists are famous for smoking. Chocolate and grape are references to different strains. By mixing them together, I have created a lesbian infusion of sticky icky icky…. No Proposition 8! For anyone unfamiliar, California Proposition 8 banned same-sex marriage in the state of California. In the past few days it was overturned so you might have caught wind of this in the news. Just remember, that here at the Hip Hop Star world, not all is what it seems… Sadly, it’s still controversial to support equality in the hip hop game but for real…being of color in America, I can’t stand by and support the discrimination of any people.
